With new team members and expanding activities in Asia and Africa, StovePlus experts gathered in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from March 3rd to 7th, 2014 for their first strategic workshop.

The workshop was a great opportunity for newcomers to get acquainted with StovePlus’ global team and work, as well as to discuss the achievements of 2013 and plans for 2014.

In 2013, the StovePlus team was very active in networking, fundraising and starting project activities in Southeast Asia, with support to a pilot project in Lao PDR, participation in a national clean stove initiative in Indonesia and funding secured for a project in Myanmar.

In 2014, new challenges await the team, with a cookstove project to be launched in Myanmar, a baseline assessment to be conducted on the local cookstove market in Sierra Leone and a joint study with GIZ to be completed on stove business models in Africa and Asia.

Also in 2014, StovePlus will be piloting their new online project management and monitoring system; a great way for the team spread over three continents to keep in contact, collaborate on projects and supervise activities around the world.

Other than meetings, the workshop had some fun activities for the team as well, including a boat cruise on the Mekong River, local field trips and a networking event at the Frangipani Hotel.

The strategic workshop was an important moment in the development of the StovePlus program. The team felt energized by having everybody under one roof and by finding a renewed, common vision for the year to come.
